15.12.09
Creative & Media students' support for the Joshua Tree charity extended to bag packing at Sainsburys today so well done for your hard work. This afternoon, learners are compiling a theoretical budget for the costings involved for this unit.
Tasks outstanding! 08.12.09-16.12.09
1) Complete your evaluation of working on the finished animated product.
You should include:
Specify exactly what you did, what roles you were personally responsible for?
The decision to stay with original narrative/ script.
Quality of voice over?
Identify all weaknesses encountered throughout this process.
Identify key strengths, what have you learnt from the process of working in collaboration with Lynda Hill and the Joshua Tree charity?
Include Health & Safety considerations (i.e. working with equipment, lights etc., working with members of the public, children.)
Discuss working as a team and any relevant communication issues.
Reflect on the quality of product created in relation to original intentions and client (Lynda Hill's) requirements.
Discuss what you would do differently next time and make sure you state why?
2) Individually select an appropriate piece of music, upload your link and justify your choice in your blog.
3) As a group, agree on a soundtrack that is the most appropriate to the theme, style and intention of you animated product.
4) ASA/ Ofcom and Byron Report changes! On completion, upload onto your blog as an attachment.
5) Compile and justify (reference legitimate sourced quotes) a theoretical budget taking into account all costs from pre-production to post production, including the screening of the 'event' in the Rec Zone on 16.12.09.
6) Plan/ create a running order on how you intend to execute your event on 16.12.09 in the Rec Zone. Prepare equipment required (cameras, microphone, projector, audio recorder) to document the event.
Emma's Tip! Regularly updating (via your blog) your reflections on practice(s) whilst participating in this Interaction unit will equate to higher assessment grades.

Key notices for this week... (week commencing 2nd November 2009)
1) Functional Skills - Julia emailed me to make sure that you find, complete and bring in your "Artscene"maths homework. Also Julia is still awaiting ICT work that is outstanding! Final reminder that this work MUST be submitted on Wednesday 4th November.
Please take note: It is important to remember that you cannot be awarded the full Creative & Media Diploma qualification without your functional skills!
2) Need to contact Lynda Hill regarding planning and carrying out a voice over with Joshua (hopefully aiming for 10th November at 3.30pm?) in the sound booth (in New Art Block).
3) Need to book the Rec Zone for screening of our animated advertisement and Charity Begins At Home website campaign (promote cause and need for student volunteers).
4) You are now at the half way stage on the Interaction Unit. You should be referring to your brief (particularly the task list, see blackboard link on our home page) on a regular basis and identifying what has been achieved and areas that may require additional work. Remember the more work you carry out independently the more marks will be awarded at assessment.
5) Follow the link if you fancy making a short film to enter into the Colleges' Week competition - lots of good prizes to be won and would look good on your personal statement. It is a good excuse to use the new flip cameras if ever there was!!
